How to Apply For A Visa
All applicants, including those for visa renewal and children MUST book an appointment. Applicants should be able to book appointments at their own convenience around the clock to schedule and reschedule their appointments.
It is important that applicants apply early, since appointments are given on a first-come, first-served basis. Double-booking will result in cancellation.
All applicants, including children, must appear in person for an interview Monday through Thursday morning at the given time of appointment. This service is not available on Fridays and the last Wednesday of every month.
Please carry a printout of your appointment details on the given date of appointment.
Required Documents
- Valid Passport (must be at least six months valid from the intended date of return from the United States) If more than one person is included in the passport, each person desiring a visa must make an application.
- Completed DS-156 Electronic Visa Application Form (EVAF) for each applicant – duly signed, all questions answered.
- A passport sized photograph (2” X 2”) The photo must have a white or off-white background, taken within the last six months. Side photos will not be accepted.
- White and yellow copies of non-refundable fee receipt from Commercial Bank of Africa for each applicant. $131 (Payable in Kenya shillings only).
Submission of supporting documents does NOT guarantee that you will be issued a visa.
Tourist and Business Visa Applicants
Applicants must demonstrate that they are properly classifiable as visitors under U.S. law by:
- Evidence that shows the purpose of the trip, intent to depart the United States and arrangements made to cover the costs of the trip may be provided. It is impossible to specify the exact form the documentation should take since applicants’ circumstances vary greatly.
- Those applicants who do not have sufficient funds to support themselves while in the U.S. must present convincing evidence that an interested person will provide support.
- Depending on individual circumstances, applicants may provide other documentation substantiating the trip’s purpose and specifying the nature of binding obligations, such as family ties or employment, which would compel their return abroad.
Submitting fraudulent information may render you permanently ineligible for a visa and subject to arrest.
