Tips for US Visa Applicants
If you choose to present a bank statement in support of your NIV application, always present your personal bank statement (except for students). Make sure to present an original statement from a commercial bank recognized by the Central Bank of Kenya. Please note: SACCO’s do not meet this requirement. Third-party sponsorship is not accepted for most non-immigrant visa classifications.
Diversity Visa (Green Card Lottery) Applicants:
- Never pay money to another individual to apply for you. There is no cost to apply for the Diversity Visa lottery, and you are ultimately responsible for the content of your application. Errors or omissions can result in cancellation of your application. If you chose to pay for assistance at a Cyber Café, make sure you verify that all information entered on the application form is correct.
- When paying fees, only pay directly at the US Embassy. No outside agents are authorized to receive fees for the Diversity Visa.
- Be sure to list your spouse and children on your application. Failure to do so could result in cancellation of your application.
Student Applicants:
- Make sure your sponsor has filled out the Student Visa Sponsor Consent Form available at (hyperlink).
- Only present original, personal bank statements for your sponsor. Copies or bank statements from businesses or groups will not be accepted. Make sure to present an original statement from a commercial bank recognized by the Central Bank of Kenya. Please Note: SACCO’s do not meet this requirement. Third party sponsorship is not accepted for most non-immigrant visa classifications.
