Emergencies

In case of an emergency need to travel, the nature of emergency for which an expedited appointment can be provided must fall under the follow circumstances:

  • Indispensable medical treatment
  • Death of an immediate family member (i.e., parent, sibling or child)
  • The need to testify in a State or Federal Court

To request an expedited appointment under these circumstances, an applicant must first pay their MRV application fee and schedule an appointment.  Only after an appointment is scheduled can one request that the Embassy grant an earlier appointment date based on emergency circumstance.  For expedited appointments visit the U.S. Visa Service website

If an early interview request is granted you should bring all the necessary documentation along with proof to support the stated emergency.
