Agoa foJoint Press Statement - Kenya to Host the 2009 AGOA Forum

The Government of Kenya, in association with the United States Government, will host the 8th U.S.-Sub-Saharan African Trade and Economic Cooperation Forum (popularly known as the AGOA Forum) August 4-6, 2009, in Nairobi.

The AGOA Forum is an annual high-level event, mandated by the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA).  The Forum allows officials from AGOA eligible countries and officials from the United States to review implementation of the African Growth and Opportunity Act, as well as chart new ways forward in building closer economic ties between the U.S. and sub-Saharan Africa. 

In addition to the government-to-government Ministerial meetings, the Forum will include meetings of the U.S. and African private sectors and civil society.

Members of government, business and civil society organizations from Africa and the United States are invited to visit www.agoaforumkenya.go.ke. Additional information about the Forum will be posted on this website as plans are formalized.
