U.S. Professor Teaches Young Kenyan Entrepreneurs Business Skills
The U.S. Embassy sponsored a series of training programs for over 200 young entrepreneurs in Kwale and Kilifi counties this month. Dr. Ross Stewart, Professor of Accounting in the School of Business and Economics at Seattle Pacific University in Seattle, Washington, led the seminars. Dr. Stewart taught the young entrepreneurs how to develop a business plan, identify potential funding opportunities, and build a successful business, and specific skills such as market research, risk analysis, and customer creation. The training programs were held in a variety of venues including Pwani University and Kwale Town. Many of the entrepreneurs were young Muslim women who will use the skills they learned to create businesses as varied as vacation property rental, construction, and interior design.
